Marriage & Relationship Counseling

Does this sound familiar to you?   “Our relationship is falling apart. We use to be best friends and now we seem to act more like enemies.   There is no trust anymore and all we do is fight. Can you help us both heal and restore trust after such a devastating hurt?”

Relationship challenges are a great opportunity for couples to grow, to heal, to learn, and to make changes for a better marriage. Marriage counseling provides the opportunity for couples facing all kinds of issues to deepen their commitment, enhance communication, and strengthen the marital bond.

Premarital Counseling

Premarital Counseling is highly recommended for couples planning to marry. Premarital education and marriage skills training are necessary for marital stability. It is beyond any doubt that the happily married couples live longer and are emotionally stable. Children from a stable family environment experience fewer social problems.

Family Counseling

Our counseling process often work with the entire nuclear family, viewing them as a unit or system. Relationships emerge from this system that influence development and behavior of all the family members. An individual member of the family may receive attention during the counseling session to address problem behavior or provide support for hardships or struggles that affect them. A combination of goals, ambitions, levels of maturity, expectations and conflicting egos can make this type of family counseling effective.

Support For Partners/Spouses Of Sex Addicts

Does your husband or boyfriend need help overcoming pornography or other sex addictions? Porn revenue is larger than all combined revenues of all professional football, baseball, and basketball franchises. US porn revenue exceeds the combined revenues of ABC, CBS, & NBC (6.2 billion). Our center has therapists that specialize in spouses of sex addict counseling.

You have already taken the first steps by recognizing the porn addiction and learning more about its cause and effect. Can there be healing? Can you keep the marriage/relationship together? Absolutely. Is there a lot of work to be done? Absolutely.

First, make a commitment to change. If you continue to do what you did yesterday, you will get yesterday’s results.

Decide how you will get help and support.

Depression & Suicide Counseling

Bummed, down, depressed, fatigued, upset, bored, low energy. Are these ways you have described yourself? All of these are words that can relate to the experience of depression. Our down moods lie along a continuum from mildly down to severely depressed.

Every year 11 million people become depressed (about 1 in 20) to the degree that we would give them a “medical diagnosis.” Most people’s down moods are not diagnosable because it is normal to have ups and downs through life.

With the many different experiences of down moods, there isn’t one way to look at them. Some of the ways people interpret these moods are: as a physical, medical, or biochemical problem; as a character weakness; as a normal part of life; as an opportunity for growth and insight.

Grieving and Loss Counseling

Grief is a natural emotion people encounter for those hurting from a death, divorce, loss of job, or other forms of loss. This is especially true for anyone following any major change in their familiar lifestyle such as the death of a loved one, divorce, marriage or retirement. Recovery from sexual addictions, alcoholism, drug and food addictions also lead people into the grieving cycle as they recover from the loss of a habit that has consumed so much of their life.

The grieving journey is one of the most misunderstood and avoided life processes. How each person reacts or copes with loss is completely unique, so the time measurement and the impact of the grieving process are impossible to measure.

Teen Counseling

The transition from childhood to adulthood, is a critical time in everyone’s life. This is when young adults begin to form their own unique identity that defines who they are. This stage is not only troublesome for teenagers but parents as well and teen counseling helps to identify the real problem.

Teens begin to challenge parents and other adult authorities, which tests their boundaries but can fuel many arguments. Although it can be a trying time, it can also be amazing to watch your adolescent transition into a young adult.

There are numerous emotional strains affecting your teen that may sometimes result in the need for counseling. Teens today face so much more pressure during their developmental stages than ever before. Issues like low self-esteem, depression, eating disorders and substance abuse need to be addressed, not ignored.

Anger Management

Is Your Anger Out Of Control?

Welcome and congratulations on taking the challenging step to begin working anger management. You have made a very important decision to gain the skills you will need to avoid emotionally harming others and to learn healthy ways of expressing and experiencing anger. We know that this decision takes a great amount of courage and you are to be commended!

Sexual Addiction

Treatment For Sex Addiction

Sexual addiction often begins in childhood with relational wounds within the family. These wounds are not always easily seen or known by the personal struggling with sexual addiction.

The sexual addictive behaviors originally begin as “solutions” to feeling lonely, rejected, or abandoned. Overtime, the behaviors increase due to tolerance (i.e., needing more, better, or different).  What begins as a “solution” becomes a problem.
